Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.

Waymo's Procurement and Vendor Enablement Office is a diverse, collaborative, and service-oriented group with a mission to efficiently procure indirect goods and services, build supplier relationships, and support outsourcing excellence to achieve Waymo's growth goals. The Vendor Enablement Office works across Waymo to ensure the right type of workforce is being deployed in the right locations and managed to provide service excellence. We provide oversight and are responsible for the strategy, governance and life-cycle operations across our temporary staff and outsourced services workforce. The team implements programs, provides processes, sets policies and manages governance to make it easier and less risky for Waymonauts to successfully engage with an extended workforce.

You will:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and lead complex cross functional strategic initiatives to transform and mature Waymo’s outsourced service delivery
  • Build strong supplier relationships; evaluate supplier performance, drive supplier excellence, support impactful quarterly business reviews, manage relationships with suppliers to ensure service needs are met
  • Advise stakeholders on workforce classifications and risk management strategies for extended workforce operations
  • Work with internal clients and suppliers to develop supplier strategies, finalize clear statements of work and service level agreements and resolve escalations as needed.
  • Act a liaison between Waymo and Google to support and improve the onboarding process
  • Solve impactful multi-dimensional issues by implementing new processes, systems, frameworks or policies that address Waymo’s vendor enablement needs.

You have:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 5-8+ years of work experience in vendor management with experience running scaled outsourced operations.
  • Proven program management skills, from strategy and design through to execution and measurement of complex, large-scale initiatives
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills (language: English)

We prefer:

  • Experience managing large complex programs with multiple partners and stakeholders across cross-functional teams; PMP or CCMP certification (or similar) is helpful but not required.
  • Strong consulting and analytical skills; ability to look at problems from multiple angles, be a thought leader and a systems thinker
  • Excellent relationship building and influencing skills, enabling you to make progress and remove roadblocks on your projects, often without direct authority
  • Comfortable operating in a high-paced, changing work environment with the ability to prioritize multiple functions and tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with a proven ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, internally and externally with vendors.
