Waymo Operations exists to deliver the Waymo Driver to the world. We are a global team building and scaling the world's first and leading autonomous fleet and operations platform. The schedule for this role is 4 days a week, 10 hours each day starting at 9pm and until 7:30am EST.

You will:

  • Actively oversee daily autonomous vehicle operations across all markets during assigned shifts. Ensure real-time support for local market teams and adherence to established procedures, prioritizing safety, efficiency, and seamless operation 24/7.
  • Monitor live operational data to detect and respond to immediate issues impacting AV performance. Serve as the primary escalation point, collaborating with local teams and escalating unresolved problems to global operations for timely intervention.
  • Ensure smooth transitions between shifts by conducting thorough shift handovers, documenting incidents, and maintaining an accurate log of shift activities and outstanding issues to ensure continuity across 24/7 operations.
  • Directly manage performance for O&O and validation, while providing hands-on guidance and real-time coaching to Waymo’s partners and vendors. Ensure alignment with Waymo’s standards and safety protocols, proactively addressing performance issues, and supporting adherence to best practices during each shift.
  • Collaborate with local teams to troubleshoot and resolve immediate operational challenges. Engage with global engineering and operations teams as necessary to address complex issues and ensure feedback loops are maintained.
  • Regularly update key stakeholders on shift activities, operational status, and any incidents. Ensure accurate and prompt communication with global operations and other shifts for effective coordination and rapid response.
  • Actively monitor and enforce Waymo’s safety standards and performance benchmarks within each shift. Address deviations promptly to ensure consistent, reliable, and safe operations across all markets.
  • Contribute shift-level insights to drive continuous improvement in daily operations. Report recurring issues and recommend potential adjustments to procedures, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiency.

 

You have:

  • Ability to oversee and support operational teams during shifts

  • Foster effective communication and coordination across shifts for continuous operation
  • Deep expertise in operational processes and systems
  • Strategic and tactical planning 
  • Effective communication and collaboration across internal and external stakeholders 
  • Knowledge of resource allocation, process optimization, and efficiency improvement
  • Ability to act swiftly and calmly in high-pressure situations
  • Ability to anticipate potential challenges and implement contingency plans
  • Proactive knowledge sharing
  • Strong data-driven decision-making skills
  • Familiarity with systems, technologies, and tools that support 24/7 operations 
  • Strong focus on customer satisfaction and commercial operations
  • Ability to balance operational efficiency with service quality

 

We prefer:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, operations research, or the like
  • 5+ years experience with real-time operations

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the role location or, if the role can be performed remote, the specific salary range for your preferred location, during the hiring process. 

Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements. 

Salary Range
$152,000—$192,000 USD
