Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo One, a fully autonomous ride-hailing service, and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over one million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving tens of millions of miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 13+ U.S. states.

The Waymo Policy and Government Affairs team has a front seat in this exciting moment in the evolution of autonomous driving technology, transportation and tech policy. Successful navigation of the policy landscape is critically important to deploying and scaling our business. Our team works directly with policymakers and third party groups at the national, state and local levels to help advance transportation policy, educate on the safety benefits of the technology, and advance consumer awareness and acceptance. Internally, our efforts support the innovative work of engineering, product, strategy, and partnerships teams, and we work closely with highly-skilled legal and safety experts.

In this hybrid role, you will report into our Head of Policy Strategy and Operations.

You will:

  • Own and manage the end-to-end planning and execution of showcases, demonstrations, and events for high-level government officials, policymakers, and key stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and on-site host for VIP visits and ride-along experiences, ensuring a seamless, professional, and world-class experience for our guests.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams including Policy, Communications, Legal, Risk, and Operations to ensure all events are strategically aligned and flawlessly executed.
  • Manage all event logistics, including guest registration, scheduling, security coordination, transportation, catering, and audio-visual support.
  • Prepare and produce high-quality briefing materials, agendas, and other necessary documentation for both internal stakeholders and external guests.
  • Execute other Policy Strategy and Operations team duties as assigned.

You have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in event management, logistics, advance, protocol, or public policy operations.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with government officials, senior executives, or other high-level stakeholders in a professional setting.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and political acumen in high-stakes, sensitive situations.
  • Ability to work independently and navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.

We prefer:

  • Experience with U.S. federal or state government protocol, such as work for the White House (e.g., Advance), Department of State (e.g., Protocol Division), or a governor's office.
  • Experience in a corporate setting managing executive or policy-related showcases for a highly technical product.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting briefing documents for an executive-level audience.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a track record of successfully navigating unforeseen challenges during live events.
  • Familiarity with the technology sector and a keen interest in autonomous vehicle technology and transportation policy.
