Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.

Our Driver may be autonomous, but Waymo’s finances are steered by experts like you. The Finance and Accounting group manages all aspects of our finances and serves as trusted advisors for all our strategic and enterprise endeavors. Along with managing compilation of our financial statements, looking after our cash and overseeing compliance, we partner closely with the business in overseeing company wide resource allocation, developing cutting edge compensation initiatives and generating detailed financial analyses to drive the business forward. We also develop advanced capital strategies to support the company’s short- and long-term future.

This role follows a hybrid work schedule and reports to the Senior Director, FP&A.

You will:

  • Act as the primary financial advisor to Hardware Engineering and Supply Chain leaders and executives, translating complex technical roadmaps into "upleveled" financial strategies and actionable business insights for the long term success of Waymo's commercial business.
  • Oversee financial analysis, deal structuring, and gate reviews for major supplier contracts, contract manufacturing agreements, and strategic hardware and Vehicle OEM partnerships.
  • Manage E2E Financial Lifecycles: Lead the Annual Operating Plan and Long-Term Planning processes, ensuring key R&D investments milestones and corporate scaling are fully funded and aligned with Waymo’s multi-year goals.
  • Manage regular business reviews (MBRs/QBRs) and variance analyses for all Hardware and Supply Chain functions, identifying trends and developing mitigation strategies to ensure proper budget management on a monthly basis.
  • Process Improvements & Scaling: Identify and execute automation and tool improvements (e.g., advanced financial dashboards) to streamline financial reporting and scale the business finance function alongside rapid company growth, actively shifting the team's focus from tactical execution to generating non-obvious, strategic insights.
  • Foster robust partnerships with Waymo cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration while maintaining high standards of deliverables.

You have:

  • MBA/MA and BA/BS degree, ideally in a quantitative field, CPA a plus
  • 15+ years of business experience including 10+ years of Hardware engineering and Supply Chain FP&A experience in a rapid growth and large scale environment.
  • Stellar business acumen with strong financial modeling skills and deep understanding of financial statements
  • Experience with owning and maintaining financial forecasts within forecasting systems
  • Strategic and critical thinking mindset: able to think multiple steps ahead on the implications of financial decisions
  • Outstanding track record in planning and managing at both the strategic and operational level - organized, detail-oriented, hands on, strategically focused and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment
  • Strong analytical expertise and ability to effectively structure and communicate finance data for business consideration and decision making at both the executive and working team levels
  • Excellent senior level business partnering, influencing and presentation skills including significant experience at C-level communications and support
  • Highly effective communicator and influencer (written, verbal and interpersonal skills)
  • Ability to prioritize assignments, deal with interruptions, and meet deadlines in a fast paced and growth-oriented environment
