In this hybrid role, you will report to a Director of Global Place Workplace & eMobility

 

You will:

  • Lead the smart buildings design and implementation of automated test scripts and standardized workflows for EV charging features, from initial development through utility energization and final customer activation.
  • Act as the primary technical lead ensuring seamless integration between vehicle mechatronic embedded controls, charging hardware, and cloud-based mobile applications.
  • Define and enforce rigorous quality standards and testing strategies, integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous delivery of high-quality charging infrastructure.Define and enforce rigorous quality standards and testing strategies, integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous delivery of high-quality charging infrastructure.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and lead implementation of automation virtualization opportunities to reduce manual testing and streamline commissioning activities.
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and feature owners while managing external commissioning vendors to ensure all site technical requirements are met.
  • Adhere to and enforce all safety precautions, particularly regarding high-voltage systems and on-vehicle testing, treating safety as the top priority.
  • Guide others in best practices, frameworks, and troubleshooting methodologies for complex electrification systems.

 

You have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business, or a related technical field.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience with automation/scripting, specifically with high proficiency in Python and experience with frameworks like Autobot or similar.

  • Extensive technical experience with electrification features, EV charging infrastructure deployment, and the commissioning lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps, along with version control systems like Git.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects that involve both hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) bench work and in-vehicle testing.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical issues, project status, and strategic recommendations to leadership and external partners.

 

We prefer:

  • A Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering or a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA).
  • 8+ years of test automation experience with a focus on web/mobile applications and vehicle-to-grid integration.
  • Hands-on experience with automotive diagnostic tools such as INCA, MDA, CANalyzer, or Vehicle Spy.
  • Understanding of Vehicle Electrical Architecture (e.g., VIP, SDV) and serial data buses including LIN, CAN, GMLAN, and Ethernet.
  • High voltage or electrified vehicle safety training and hands-on experience with on-vehicle serial protocols.
  • Certification in Quality Assurance and/or Test Automation (e.g., Six Sigma, ISTQB) and experience with JIRA/Problem Resolution Tracking Systems (PRTS).

 

Travel Arrangements:

  • This role requires travel approximately 25% of the time. Specifically, the employee will be expected to travel quarterly as part of their job responsibilities.

 

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements. 

Salary Range
$152,000—$187,000 USD
