Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.

The Business Systems team defines and builds the business IT architecture that supports the commercial operation of Waymo's autonomous fleet. The team stands at the intersection of finance, operations and IT; through creative architecture, expertise and attention to detail, it ensures that Waymo has world-class capabilities across all its business processes.

As the Business System Lead for Real Estate and HR, you will serve as a strategic technology partner responsible for building, scaling, and modernizing the enterprise applications powering Waymo’s workforce and workplace solutions. In this role, you will bridge People Operations, Real Estate & Workplace Services (REWS), and Engineering to establish an automated, AI-enabled systems ecosystem. You will lead cross-functional architectures—connecting employee lifecycle events in core HRIS to automated digital identity and physical workplace provisioning—to support Waymo’s commercial and operational scale.
In this hybrid role, you will report to a Senior Manager Sr. Manager Finance, Indirect Procurement & HR Systems.

You will:

  • Portfolio Strategy & Architecture: Define and execute the multi-year technology roadmap across People, Culture, and REWS systems, ensuring alignment between Waymo’s business objectives, IT strategy, and Alphabet corporate infrastructure.
  • Team Leadership & Delivery: Lead, mentor, and guide a high-performing team of systems analysts, engineers, and program managers, driving sprint backlogs, UAT execution, vendor governance, and bi-annual release cycles.
  • Lifecycle Automation: Architect resilient cross-platform integrations translating employee lifecycle events (onboarding, role transfers, departures) into automated downstream actions across identity provisioning, badge access control, and desk allocation.
  • AI-First Solution Design: Modernize core workplace and HR processes by evaluating and embedding AI-native tools, LLM-driven workflow automations, and intelligent business process automation (RPA).
  • Enterprise Systems Integration: Lead large-scale SaaS implementations and platform enhancements anchored around core tools such as Workday HCM, CoStar, Sitetracker, Tririga, and corporate SAP integrations.
  • Operational Excellence & Governance: Direct system change management, 3rd-level incident triage, and root-cause analyses while enforcing enterprise-grade data privacy, audit compliance, and SOC/SOX security controls.

You have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline (such as Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or MIS), or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 to 10 years of experience working as a Business Systems Analyst, specifically supporting corporate HR, facilities/real estate functional areas.
  • Strong understanding of HR & Real Estate tech domain and its core business processes like Hire to Retire.
  • Solid project management fundamentals, including experience working within Agile/Scrum frameworks, managing backlogs, and prioritizing competing requests.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a track record of translating complex technical architecture into plain language for non-technical business partners.

We prefer:

  • Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or an MBA.
  • Deep functional and technical knowledge of Workday (Core HCM, Business Process Framework, Studio, EIB) and enterprise financial/subledger integration points (e.g., SAP).
  • Proven success driving business systems transformation in high-growth technology, autonomous vehicle, or complex hardware/fleet environments.
  • Experience with IoT/sensor-based space utilization systems, lease accounting workflows, and physical security access control integrations (e.g., Lenel, CCure).
  • Practical experience evaluating and deploying generative AI tools, automated chatbots, or agentic workflows to optimize corporate workforce operations.
  • Familiarity with Alphabet internal shared infrastructure, security review standards, and enterprise data privacy policies.
