Software Engineering builds the brains of Waymo's fully autonomous driving technology. Our software allows the Waymo Driver to perceive the world around it, make the right decision for every situation, and deliver people safely to their destinations. We think deeply and solve complex technical challenges in areas like robotics, perception, decision-making and deep learning, while collaborating with hardware and systems engineers. You will:
- Develop novel algorithmic and system optimization techniques to make the Waymo foundational models more efficient.
- Apply model optimizations and efficient deep learning techniques and benchmark their quality and performance implications on Waymo foundational models.
- Code in Python
You have:
- Progressing towards PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, or related technical fields.
- Knowledge of Transformers basics.
- Experience with system performance optimization.
- Strong programming skill in Python.
We prefer:
- Strong track record of high quality research in machine learning, computer systems, and/or computer architecture.
- Experience with hardware acceleration, GPU and/or TPU optimizations.
- Experience with JAX.
