Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.

Waymo Operations exists to deliver the Waymo Driver to the world. We are a global team building and scaling the world's first and leading autonomous fleet and operations platform. From component sourcing to end customer management, we enable and create value for Waymo through scaled and orchestrated deployment of the Waymo Driver. At Waymo, we are dedicated to building a culture that promotes collaboration and celebration. We value our team members' unique backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences and support and encourage all team members to share their ideas to help Waymo better serve the communities in which we operate.

You will:

  • Local Market Leadership and Partner Support: As an early operations hire in London, ensure our Fleet Operating Partner is well supported by facilitating in-person touchpoints, feedback loops, and internal advocacy to operations and engineering teams to unblock their issues and empower their success.
  • Global Daily Operations Monitoring and Support: Actively oversee daily autonomous vehicle operations across all markets in real time. Monitor live operational data to detect and respond to immediate issues impacting AV performance. • Performance Management & Support: Directly manage performance for global commercial and testing operations, while providing hands-on guidance and real-time coaching to Waymo’s partners and vendors.
  • Real-Time Reporting and Communication: Regularly update key stakeholders on team activities, operational status, and any incidents. Ensure accurate and prompt communication with global operations and other teams for effective coordination and rapid response. Manage complex stakeholder relationships across multiple teams, including local operations, systems operations, product development, engineering, and others.
  • Safety and Performance Compliance: Actively monitor and enforce Waymo’s safety standards and performance benchmarks. Address deviations promptly to ensure consistent, reliable, and safe operations across all markets. Lead safety / risk audits and partner with safety leads to implement risk-reduction strategies.
  • Continuous Improvement Feedback: Proactively generate ideas to drive continuous improvement in daily operations - even if the problem is ambiguous - and take full ownership of the solution. Report recurring issues and recommend potential adjustments to procedures, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiency.

You have:

  • Minimum 6 years experience in consulting, technical operations,  product operations, technical account management,  vendor management / advocacy, or other related roles that blend strong technical know-how with stakeholder engagement to uncover problems and work cross functionally with technical teams to build solutions to those problems.
  • Proven strong data-driven decision-making skills and comfort working with relevant technologies for continuous operations.
